Inner Warfare

In 2018 I followed an inner calling and curiosity and enrolled in yoga teacher training. That training lit me up and brought me closer to my truest self and to my soulmates, while simultaneously shining a light on the disconnect in my marriage and oldest and closest relationships. Something I couldn’t ignore, though I did for a long time because I didn’t want to lose that sense of belonging, even though it didn’t feel like belonging at all, but self betrayal. I stuffed it down, considered it selfish and chose my people over myself, over my knowing and my heart’s longing.

Knowings though, don’t go away, they get louder.

Fast forward to now

After almost quitting teaching yoga completely, something and someone called me back Home… and I enrolled in 300hr yoga teacher training back in March to get my 500hr YTT certification.

I longed for something deeper I was seeking in another, but could only be found within, that piece I had abandoned and wrote off as unimportant and secondary.

To honor myself. To honor what truly lights all parts of me up, what I came here to do. What I KNOW to be true for me.

Is it selfish for my children to grow up with a mother who follows her heart and dreams? Is it selfish for a woman to say yes only when she really means it? Only when she really wants to? And to say NO unapologetically when it asks her to be in conflict with her heart and values?

The answer is a resounding No, it’s not.
Your dreams aren’t selfish, they are of service to us here. Not sharing those gifts and keeping them from the world is the selfish act.

I’ll choose to trust my heart in this, and every lifetime.
I hope you do the same, unapologetically.
